Curtains Fall On HPY 2017

The 31^st Valedictory function of the Holiday Programme for Youth (HPY) took place on 4^th June, 2017 at the JB Vachha High School, where over a hundred and seventy just-out-of-school teenagers spent a month participating in entertaining and informative activities. Commencing on a pious note, Er. Firdosh Pavri invoked the blessings of the Almighty, followed by host, Khushnuma Daruvalla inviting HPY’s Mentor, Diana Marfatia to deliver the welcome address. Coordinator, Azmin Mistry Vania conveyed how HPY has touched over six thousand lives in the past thirty-one years, and expressed gratitude to the Trustees of the BPP, JB Vachha High School, Diana and organisers for their support.

The prize distribution ceremony witnessed BPP Chairman, Yazdi Desai, Guest of Honour and Director of Impact foundation, Havovi Wadia, as well as Chief Guest and MD of Keystone Realtors, Boman Irani, awarding prizes to numerous winners. Yazdi Desai declared a cash prize of Rupees twenty thousand to the winner of the blood donation drive as this year, two hundred and thirty five bottles of blood were donated to Parsi General hospital and Saint George hospital’s blood bank. Team ‘Creators’ clinched the title for making the maximum impact. Speaking on the occasion, Yazdi highlighted the significance of prayers in our daily lives, and the need to always respect our parents. Havovi Wadia shared her inspiring life story, inspiring the audience about how life truly has a plan chalked out for each one. Boman Irani also shared a few life lessons. Next was an entertainment session where Danush Dumasia, ‘Mr. HPY’ and winner of the singing competition, sang his winning piece, joined in by Jehan Carnac who performed an HPY rap. Winner of the solo dance category, Ferangiz Hozdar performed her winning piece. Winning ‘Miss HPY’, Rohina Gandhi did a contemporary dance, followed by the duo of Kaizad and Farhad showcasing beat-boxing. The event ended with a fun dance performance by all the organisers.
