Parsis Seek PM’s Intervention To Save Our Pious Places

The past couple of weeks have witnessed our Community get rattled and unite to take action against the potential damage that could be caused to our places of worship by the ongoing Metro III construction work. Most Parsi pages on social media platforms and WhatsApp have been buzzing non-stop with notifications asking community members to sign a petition to save our religious places from the dangers posed by the Metro III line.

The controversial construction of the Metro III line has come under tremendous speculation within the community, as reportedly, one of the metro lines passes right under the kebla of the Wadiaji Atash Behram, raising alarm bells regarding the threat it poses to the sanctum sanctorum. The petition which has been garnering immense support from Parsis in Mumbai as well as other cities, is addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for his intervention to stop the construction of the Metro III line. While highlighting the grievances caused to Wadiaji Atash Behram and Anjuman Atash Behram at Dhobi Talao (Girgaum), the petition also raises concern regarding Dadysett Agiary at Hutatma Chowk and the Bhikha Behram Well near Azad Maidan, which could be affected by MMRCL’s Metro III line.
