CRICKET

India Whitewash Sri Lanka With A 3-0 Win In T20s

A commanding overall performance from team India helped them overpower visitors Sri Lanka at the Wankhede stadium, winning the game by 5 wickets as former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit the winning stroke in style for a four. Batting first, the Lankan lions notched up 135-7 in 20 overs, courtesy Asela Gunaratne who top scored with 36 while Dasun Shanaka contributed an unbeaten 29. For the Indians, Jaydev Unadkat and Hardik Pandya took two wickets each while Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav snapped up one wicket each. In reply, India cruised to victory in style getting 139-5 in 19.2 overs. In the end it was Dinesh Karthik and Dhoni who remained unbeaten on scores of 18 and 16 respectively. Jaydev Unadkat was awarded the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series.

 

FOOTBALL

Premier League Results

On 23rd December Everton and Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw, Brighton and Hove Albion won 1-0 with Watford, Manchester City outplayed AFC Bournemouth 4-0. Southampton also drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town, Stoke City defeated West Bromwich Albion 3-1, and Swansea City played out a draw 1-1 with Crystal Palace. Newcastle United won 3-2 playing against West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur won 3-0 with Burnley while Leicester City played a 2-2 draw with Manchester United. 26th December saw Tottenham Hotspur win 5-2 with Southampton, a good contest was seen between AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United with 3-3. Chelsea won 2-0 with Brighton and Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town were involved in a 1-1 draw with Stoke City. Watford beat Leicester City 2-1 and ultimately Liverpool thrashed Swansea City 5-0.

 

BADMINTON

Chennai Win In Premier Badminton League

Defending champs Chennai Smashers beat Mumbai Rockets 4-3 to earn themselves a maiden win in the third season of the Premier Badminton League at the Siri Fort Sports Complex.
