Doa Bakhshidan Holds First Fund Raiser
On 22nd September, ‘Doa Bakhshidan’ (DB) – an organization dedicated towards the upliftment of the needy and providing humanitarian grants for the deserving underprivileged – celebrated its very first Anniversary and Fund Raising Event, at Cama Baug (Big Otla) – with an evening of fun, entertainment and dinner for all. The evening was graced by Chief Guests, BPP Chairman Yezdi Desai and wife, Anahita Desai who greatly supported and encouraged Team DB. The event witnessed a crowd of over a hundred and thirty people, kept regaled all through the lively eve, by MC – Jennifer Dinshaw. The event also witnessed the formal unveiling of the Doa Bakhshidan logo.
What started as a Whatsapp conversation amongst a few ladies on a recipe group, a year ago, is now a full-fledged non-profit group that helps people in need – led by the core team of eight dynamic women – Kashmira Surti, Dalenavaz Umrigar, Vahbiz Bharucha, Khursheed Vajifdar, Tasnim Arsiwala, Diana Doctor, Jenifar Challa and Zeenobia Printer.
Over the past year, Team Doa Bakhshidan has successfully completed 37 projects – thanks to help from donors – including children’s education funds and provisions and supporting underprivileged widows from four widow chawls in Thakurdwar, Fort, Mazagaon and Dadar. Every month the team visits orphanages and other care homes – providing support with a ‘hand up’, not just a ‘hand out’, going beyond monetary support, offering volunteer moral consolation, personal financial help, organizing teams dedicated to fund raising, donation of food, clothing and other essential items.
