Dr. Cyres Mehta Awarded ‘Daud Khan Endowment Peace Prize’

Surgical Director and Chief of the International Eye Centre, Dr. Cyres K Mehta, was recently awarded the ‘Daud Khan Endowment Peace Prize’ by the Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN) on 8^th September, 2017. Held at a resort in Goa, ACOIN, which spans across various SAARC countries and is recognised by the Government of India, recognised Dr. Cyres for his new techniques in eye surgery including the robotic cataract surgery for children and adults, and also for spreading the same in the SAARC countries. Attended by seven hundred and sixty eye surgeons across India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Denmark, Dr. Cyres was felicitated by Chief Guest and Padmashree, Dr. MM Joshi and Prof. Madan Mohan. The annual gathering’s prime focus area was ‘to eliminate childhood blindness in India through revolutionary robotic cataract surgeries’. When Parsi Times caught up with Dr. Cyres Mehta, he said “It’s our responsibility to use the most modern technology to fix problems of the suffering and blind, even from the most remote parts of the country. What use is our training if the poor and unfortunate cannot benefit from it?”
