GOI Grants 4 Cr To Alpaiwalla Museum

Situated within the premises of Khareghat Colony, the Alpaiwalla Museum is probably the only Zoroastrian museum in the world that houses rare artefacts and collection but had been shut, due to much needed repairs. However, the Government of India (GOI) has stepped in to renovate and restore this ground plus one storey structure owned by the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP). An email dated 3rd October, 2017, from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs reads, “The Committee has approved your proposal and recommended Rs 400 lakh financial assistance to your (BPP) organization for setting up of (the) Museum. In this regard, you are requested to submit an undertaking, confirming the willingness of your organization to bear the amount of Rs 109.79 lakhs (remaining part of the total project cost of Rs 509.79 lakhs) from your resources.”
