Joint Statement By BPP and B D Petit Parsee General Hospital

Starting the New Year on an auspicious note and reconfirming their original stand, much to the healthcare benefit of the Community, the Bombay Parsi Punchayet and the BD Petit Parsee General Hospital, issued a joint statement on 2nd January, 2018 stating that all the BPP Trustees “unequivocally, firmly and wholeheartedly support the new secular hospital project undertaken by the BD Petit Parsee General Hospital.”

As a refreshing and welcome start to 2018, and putting to an end the unfounded rumours, the joint press statement may have well come in time, averting the potential disaster of the community unwittingly losing out on the generous benevolence of one of the foremost philanthropists of our community, Jal and Pervin Shroff. Countering all unfounded allegations, the joint statement reinforces that “the proposed new secular hospital (the new building as also the land on which it is constructed) shall remain at all times the exclusive property of the B D Petit Parsee General Hospital” and its beneficiaries, the Parsi Community.

At a time when munificent and unconditional donations of this magnitude are rarely seen, it would have been catastrophic for our community to forego this vital healthcare advantage, funded by the gracious offices of the Shroffs from Hong Kong. The Community owes them great gratitude for handsomely contributing and facilitating the sustenance of the Community’s foremost health institution, and ensuring that the B D Petit Parsee General Hospital continues to provide its indispensable medical services to the Community, as it has, over generations.
