UPDATE NOTICE – WZO Trust – Kerala Floods Relief
The following is an update by The World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust (WZOT) as on September 24, 2018 on the Kerala Floods Relief project and funds received:
Till date Rs. 30,00,000 (Three Million Indian Rupees) have been spent on relief and recovery in the area. WZO Trust has been working closely with Diana Bharucha of Kinder Trust who has been on the ground there with her team of volunteers. She has relocated her volunteering activities to Coorg with Colonel Muthanna, President, Wildlife Association, who has requested for provisions and on a most immediate need, solar power, which can provide light and charge cell phones for people living in the wilderness, to keep them safe and help them reach out for further assistance as they begin rebuilding their homes and lives.
200 Solar lights, each costing Rs. 1,840 with a 2 year warranty, are required for this area. The total cost for the lights is Rs. 3,68,000 (Rupees Three Lakh, Sixty Eight Thousand). WZOT has approved the purchase of all 200 solar lights. WZOT and Kinder Trust is providing necessities which are not provided by others, including Clothing, Assorted Cleaning Brushes, Bleaching Powder, Concentrated Phenyle, Vessels, Doxycycline tablets, Mattresses, Roof Sheets, Construction Supplies. Volunteers are closely monitoring the collection and distribution of all supplies and medication. Relief is also being sent to Pullangady, Lower Kuttanadu and the Alappuzha District.
The Kerala Floods Relief appeal was first released by us on August 19, 2018. Since then we have received, as on September 24, 2018, donations amounting to Rs.30,59,893 from 192 donors. The WZO Trust extends sincere gratitude to donors who have assisted towards this gargantuan exercise to alleviate human suffering.
However, much more needs to be done and funds continue to be required. We request Zoroastrians from all parts of the world to join us in our efforts to provide verified and trusted help to Kerala.
