Mumbai In Vijay Hazare Final

A dominating Mumbai continued their unbeaten streak in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, winning the semi-final by 60 runs, beating Hyderabad according to the VJD method, with rain playing spoilsport. A splendid batting show from Prithvi Shaw (61) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (55*) coupled with great bowling performances from Man of the Match Tushar Deshpande (3-55) and Roystan Dias (2-43) ensured Mumbai a berth in the final.  Winning the toss and electing the bat, Hyderabad posted 246-8 in 50 overs. Tushar struck for Mumbai early sending both Hyderabad openers Tanmay Agarwal and Akshath Reddy back to the dug-out. There on, Rohit Rayudu struck a brilliant century (121), hammering eight fours and four maximums. For Mumbai, Prithvi Shaw and Rohit Sharma stitched a 73 runs opening stand. Rohit was bowled on 17 by Mehdi Hasan while Shaw kept the score board ticking. Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane (17) shared a 73 run unbroken stand. Due to rains, Mumbai as per the par score, notched the winning 155-2 in 25 overs, to meet Delhi in the finals.

 

Delhi Beats Jharkhand In Vijay Hazare Semis

A great ninth wicket partnership of 51 runs between Pawan Negi (39) and Navdeep Saini (13) helped beat Jharkhand during the second semi-finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy by two wickets. Batting first Jharkhand made 199 in 48.5 overs, after being reduced to 85-6 at one stage. Virat Singh top scored with 71. For Delhi, bowler Navdeep Saini grabbed (4-30) in 10 overs. While batting, Delhi were reduced to 149-8 in 37.5 overs as Anand Singh snapped up (3-39). Finally, Delhi crossed the winning line scoring 200-8 in 49.4 overs.

 

 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

India placed 46 athletes in 13 sports with 36 events and have been rewarded with 13 medals i.e. three Golds, nine Silvers and one Bronze at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. Both men and women’s national Hockey field teams grabbed Silver medals. Suraj Panwar clinched a Silver in the Boys 5km Walk. Akash Malik won Silver in Boy’s Individual Archery. Praveen Chitravel, a farm labourer’s son, gave India its second track and field medal… winning a Bronze in Triple Jump.

 

BADMINTON

         Srikanth moves into second round of Denmark Open

World number six Kidambi Srikanth beat Danish player Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus 21-16, 21-10 in 35 minutes to set up a second round clash win Lin Dan during the Denmark Open tournament.

 

FOOTBALL

UEFA Nations League: France Beats Germany

Antoine Griezmann struck a brace which included a penalty during the 80th minute as France claimed a second Nations League victory. Initially for Germany, Kroos shot a penalty during the 14th minute.
