MMS Signs New Settlement For PGH Employees

The Mumbai Mazdoor Sabha (MMS), under the leadership of President Chandbibi Zaidi and General Secretary Dhunji Naterwalla, signed a new three-year Wage Settlement on the 2nd of April, 2019, with the B.D. Petit Parsee General Hospital, facilitating an increase in benefits for the Hospital’s Workmen, Upper Staff and Nursing Staff. The MMS is a statutorily recognised Union, functioning in the Community’s oldest Hospital in South Bombay, as well as in the Bombay Parsi Punchayet Funds and Properties, as also Breach Candy Hospital Trust, Mumbai.

The new settlement provides an unprecedented monthly increase in wages to the extent of Rs. 3,900/- to Rs.4,500/-per month, on an average, to all the Workmen and Staff of the Hospital, with benefits in areas including Basic, Dearness Allowance, Allowances, Upgradation of Nursing Staff, Mediclaim Policy increase, Funeral Expenses and LTA.  This Settlement was reached amicably between the parties based on peaceful negotiations held between the senior Trustees along with Hon. Secretary – Hector Mehta and Hon. Treasurer – HN Sinor, representing the Hospital, and President Chandbibi Zaidi and General Secretary Dhunji Naterwalla representing MMS

A similar settlement was signed between MMS and The Breach Candy Hospital Trust dated 15th March, 2019, facilitating an increase in benefits for the Workmen and Admin. Staff of the Breach Candy Hospital, including a revision in scales of basic salary from April 01, 2018; Service and Fitment Increments; Provident Fund; Leave, Bonus, Marriage Gift, Funeral Expenses, Medical Facilities and Post-Retirement Medical Benefits.

For decades now, the Mumbai Mazdoor Sabha, has worked shoulder to shoulder with organisations and contributed greatly towards helping set the standards for wages, working conditions, job benefits and the quality of life for numerous employees. Having worked successfully in tandem with organisations like the BPP, the MMS, through the guided and balanced efforts of President Chandbibi Zaidi and General Secretary Dhunji Naterwalla, has come through to deliver a win-win situations for the workers as well as the organisations.
