Quiz: Mommy, Are You Happy?

As a mother, making sacrifices becomes second nature. As a woman, you are expected to be adept at taking on new capacities in your stride, even excelling at them, while sustaining and bettering the older ones! Mommies are the real Super Women of our times.

Even as ‘motherhood’ unquestioningly assumes the ‘center of their universe’ position and the Top Spot in their priority list, a mother is more than a mother. She is a wife, a daughter and a daughter-in-law; she’s a career-woman, a sibling, a friend… and much more. Being a mother is the most fulfilling experience they say, however, it can also be thankless at times. The only thing more exhausting and exasperating than having to constantly fulfill unending expectations of your children, is to be taken for granted… when you’re greeted with disappointment and disapproval instead of gratitude and appreciation. They say Mommies were made because God couldn’t be at all places at the same time… but it is imperative that Mommies are happy. When it comes to women vis-à-vis motherhood, unfortunately the sum of the parts (or in this case, just the single part – meaning capacity as mother) is greater than the whole. Off goes the balance. And with it, the happiness. Dear Mommies, if you think you could relate to some of what you have been reading, it would be a good idea to take this quiz and find out if you really are happy on the inside. Because, remember, even if it is all about your children, you would need to be happy yourself to keep them happy!

Now add up the Total Number of statements you have chosen ‘Agree’, If you have scored:

Between 1 – 5: You’re not really a Happy Mommy. Most days, you feel like you’re at the end of your rope. Remember, your happiness is solely your responsibility, and to be a happy mommy, you need to make a few changes – be more assertive (not aggressive), stand your ground; communicate your feelings with all at home. Connect with the woman you were before you were a Mommy and bring back the spark!

Between 6-10: You are experiencing moderate job satisfaction as a mommy – you’re not quite yet a Happy Mommy. You need to stress less and laugh more. Stop second-guessing yourself and be open to exploring new ideas and motivating yourself as a woman. Be proud of who you are and what you do and seek validation from no others!

Between 11-15:  You are doing good and you’re a Happy Mommy for the most part! You’ve gotten the right hold of the winning equation so you’re only going to get better. Just remember not to give in to the sense of competitiveness. Love yourself and you would have gotten even happier!

Between 16-20: You’re the Rockstar, Mommy! And you’re a Happy Happy Mommy who everyone just can’t get enough of! You’ve built a strong foundation and your children adore and respect you – you’re their idol and inspiration!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the lovely Mommies!
