Even as ‘motherhood’ unquestioningly assumes the ‘center of their universe’ position and the Top Spot in their priority list, a mother is more than a mother. She is a wife, a daughter and a daughter-in-law; she’s a career-woman, a sibling, a friend… and much more. Being a mother is the most fulfilling experience they say, however, it can also be thankless at times. The only thing more exhausting and exasperating than having to constantly fulfill unending expectations of your children, is to be taken for granted… when you’re greeted with disappointment and disapproval instead of gratitude and appreciation. They say Mommies were made because God couldn’t be at all places at the same time… but it is imperative that Mommies are happy. When it comes to women vis-à-vis motherhood, unfortunately the sum of the parts (or in this case, just the single part – meaning capacity as mother) is greater than the whole. Off goes the balance. And with it, the happiness.
