Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis With Homeopathy

Rheumatic conditions, a predominant ailment most older Parsis suffer from, can cause deformities so severe that those who suffer from it cannot even bathe or dress themselves. Even a simple task such as walking becomes painful or impossible. Arthritis affects 15%, ie. 18 crore people in India. Homeopathy treats arthritis without side-effects, offering symptomatic relief to patients by controlling the progress of the disease.

Though there are many types of arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is the most common. RA is an autoimmune condition, where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the joints and the surrounding tissues. It is characterized by tender, swollen joints, and joint stiffness. It may also lead to pain and deformity in joints. Women are thrice as much affected as men or children.

The first few weeks following the onset of RA symptoms are very crucial. If patients get appropriate treatment during this initial period, they can prevent long-term complications. Increased incidence of RA in family members points towards the genetic nature of this disease. However, there are other factors in addition to genes that makes one prone to RA like infections (bacterial, viral or fungal) or subjective environmental factors. RA damages vital organs, including lungs, heart, nervous system, kidneys, skin and eyes. It ‘peaks’ between age 35 to 55 in women, and age 40 to 60 in men.

Risk Factors:

Family history of RA increases your risk to contract RA.

Smoking increases your chances of developing RA, especially if you have a genetic predisposition.

Environmental factors including exposure to air pollution, insecticides and occupational exposures to mineral oil and silica.

Obesity or overweight people are at a higher risk of developing RA.

Hormonal changes cause the disease to flare up, especially after pregnancy and during breast-feeding.

  • Symptoms Of RA:
    Tender, warm, swollen joints
  • Joint stiffness that is usually worse in the mornings and after inactivity
  • Fatigue, fever and weight loss.

RA affects your smaller joints initially like knuckles. Symptoms spread to the wrists, knees, ankles, elbows, hips and shoulders. 40% of RA victims also experience symptoms that don’t involve the joints, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart, kidneys, nerve tissue and blood vessels. Back pain is common with RA which also causes osteoporosis (loss of calcium in bones, making them fragile and porous, thereby more prone to fractures).

Why Homeopathy?
RA being immunity related disorder, homeopathic treatment aims at correcting the altered immunity, offering symptomatic relief. It delays the onset of deformities or disability. Conventional treatment for RA consists of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which have the risk of damaging the stomach lining causing bleeding ulcers or causing high blood pressure and bone brittleness amongst other side-effects.
Homeopathy, on the other hand, provides safe and sure solutions in treating RA. It relieves pain and stiffness while strengthening the body’s immunity ensuring productive and pain-free living.
