Marzban Giara Authors Book On History of Holy Iranshah And Udvada
Author Marzban Jamshedji Giara, regarded widely for his comprehensive acumen and study of the Zoroastrian religion and culture, has penned yet another gem for the benefit of community members, titled, ‘The History of Holy Fire Iranshah and Udvada Gam’ – a 144-paged, richly illustrated, hard bound edition, which has been sponsored by The WZO Trust Funds. It was aptly launched on 21st April, 2022 – the most auspicious Roz Adar, Mah Adar, at Iranshah Atash Behram, Udvada.
A visual delight and another first of its kind, the book has a foreword penned by Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor, High Priest, Iranshah Atash Behram and a message by Dinshaw Tamboly, Chairman, The WZO Trust Funds. The pictures of our institutions as also Dasturjis of Udvada are eye catching.
The informative book comprises two parts – Part-I is a reprint of the book, ‘The History of Holy Fire Iranshah’ by Ervad Faramroze Phiroze Mirza; and Part-II succinctly details Udvada Gam and its Parsi institutions. It also contains Gujarati songs on Udvada and Iranshah, which have been transliterated into English; reminiscences about Udvada; useful tips for Parsi Zoroastrians pilgrims as also for priests / Dharamshala managers. A map of Udvada Gam and a bibliography adds to the usefulness of this book.
