Dr. Coomi Vevaina Bestowed ‘Professor Emeritus’ By Christ University, Pune
Dr. Coomi Vevaina, PhD, the Founder-Director of the Global Tipping Point Summit (GTPS) was honoured with the prestigious designation of ‘Professor Emeritus’, by Christ University, Pune, in recognition of her meritorious contributions to scholarship and her distinguished career. This esteemed rank is awarded to very select professors on retirement and they retain this honorary title for life.
Dr. Coomi Vevaina is also the Founder Director of Centre for Connection Education and Management and is the retired Professor and Head of the Department of English, University of Mumbai, India. She holds two Ph.D degrees to her credit – one in Literature and the other in Education. She has published nine books and fifty-eight papers that have appeared in peer-reviewed national and international journals and critical anthologies.
Speaking to Parsi Times, Dr. Coomi Vevaina said, “I passionately love teaching (and learning) and do my work with immense joy, without thinking of rewards. However, last evening when I received a mail from Christ University, Pune, conferring on me the designation of Professor Emeritus, I felt genuinely glad that my work in Literature and Education had been given recognition. I know that I will continue to teach in innovative ways and keep writing books and leading workshops till my dying day (God willing)!”
Well-wishers and students alike, poured in congratulatory messages. While Environmental Activist, writer, and the founder of Sanctuary Nature Foundation – Bittu Sahgal, said, “Congratulations Coomi. You are a dedicated educationist and this is such a richly deserved honour!”, Kanchan Aneja, one of Dr. Coomi’s M.Phil students, exclaimed, “You have spent your life totally committed and dedicated to teaching all who came into your life in an intense, caring and loving way. I am just one of the hundreds of students whose lives you have touched with your concern, empathy and sheer love. It has been a great privilege and joy.”
In the field of Education, Dr. Coomi Vevaina is deeply involved in innovative, learner-centric curriculum designing, teaching pedagogy and evaluation techniques. Her book on Education, Sourcefull Intelligence: Understanding Uniqueness and Oneness through Education, was selected as among the eighteen best books published in the USA, in 2013. Her most recent book, ‘What Children Really Want’, has been hailed as a path-breaking innovation by educationists, parents, writers and psychologists from across the world.
