What Stops You?

Dear Readers,

So many of us are made for greater things… deep in our gut, we know we could be way bigger and better than where we are at now. Yet, something keeps us back from getting there. We are aware of it, but can’t seem to pin-point this exact cause of our self-sabotage. So, what is it that holds you back from evolving into your best version? What stops you from achieving your greatness?

We already know the answer, in the feedback we receive from sincere friends and family members who tell us, “The only thing that’s stopping you is YOU!” Truer words were never spoken! But that’s a blanket statement and to many, the thought of self-exploration can seem overwhelming. Where do you start?

Einstein hath said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!” If we want a different outcome for our lives, we need to exchange some old habits for new ones. To soar to the heights of your success, you first need to break free of the shackles that hold you back.

To truly get started on the journey towards unleashing your greatness, we first need to do away with these three top self-debilitating habits – First: the ‘need to please everyone’, the obsessive need to be in everyone’s good books, which leads to compulsively putting yourself down and negating your own preferences. All that this self-imposed ‘martyr syndrome’ gets you, is frustrated. Second: stop ‘living in the past’ – it’s like driving your vehicle with your eyes on the rear-view mirror! You’re bound to crash if your focus is not on the road ahead. Third: Enough with the overthinking! (exceedingly prevalent among bawi mums who go into ‘analysis-paralysis’ mode about anything and everything, usually centred around their darling sons!) Constantly obsessing about the same old thing only gets you anxious, paranoid and hypertension! Also, there’s only so long you can pass it off as ‘concern’ with your now-cheesed-off family/friends!

Giving up on these old habits is easier said than done, but this is where it all begins – in the unlearning of that self-deprecating mindset and the undoing of those incapacitating behaviours, which have hitherto got you chasing that pseudo, external validation. Armed with self-confidence and self-belief, you are now free to bring out of hiding and nurture the real you, the unstoppable you, which is rearing to realize its potential and shine at its brightest!

Our community is nothing, if not known for its greatness – having given to the world, some of the greatest men and women of all times, as also some of the greatest humanitarian endeavours. Let nothing stop us from perpetuating this legacy of greatness!

Have a good weekend!

– Anahita
