100Thousand Poets for Change Holds 11th Poetry Festival
The 11th Poetry Festival by 100Thousand Poets for Change was held online last month, with participation from schools and organisations including Dadar Parsi Youths Assembly (DPYA) High School, J.B. Petit High School for Girls, J.B. Vatcha High School, The Inodai School, Powai English High School, R.S. Deokar English Medium School, Universal School, etc.
‘Angels in Disguise’ was the fest-title, with ‘friendship’ as the theme, inspired by Sunday Mid-day columnist, Meher Marfatia, based on the Unique Friendship Between Dinoo Dubash/Damania and Rati Vania/Wadia, who have been friends from childhood to their currents 80s, where they still dine together daily!
Rati Wadia, former Principal of Queen Mary School, conducted the festival spread across three evenings, curated by award-winning poet, Menka Shivdasani. Nilesh Makwana, author and founder of an award-winning Australian tech-firm, was the Chief Guest. Katie Bagli, author of children’s books, presented the play that she wrote and directed, ‘A Friendship Most Strange’. The talented children expressed their ideas through compositions and songs. The story of the famous classical friends – Krishna and Sudama was related by Rati Wadia, who also read an extract from a friend of late Divyansh Atman, about how friendship was eternal.
