Letters To The Editor

Kudos Noshir!

Parsi Times dated February 10th has an article by Noshir Dadrawala regarding Valentine Day, written beautifully. I always look forward to his articles, which are well-researched and interesting to read. Apart from being a historian he has phenomenal knowledge about Iran and our religion. Thank you Noshir!

Ruby’s ‘Meherbai’ Is Collector’s Item!

Last week, your Ruby Llilaowala has hit a real sixer with her Meherbai article, especially since me and my family are hopelessly hung-up on Hindi film music. Her mixing of Hindi film music with Meherbai’s Mandali was a great idea! We have kept this piece as a collector’s item! Our thanks to Ruby!

High Political Drama In Tamil Nadu! Back Home Election In Majhi Mumbai!

Never before, have we witnessed such high political drama, of suspense and uncertainties as we witnessed during the week. The Tamil Nadu politicians have come out with the dirtiest tricks ever played for power assumption. What was the role of the Governor? What options had he, when, each power hungry politician was outsmarting the other! Politics has encircled them, like a coil of a snake, the grip becomes tighter, the more they try to wriggle out. The MLAs were confined in luxurious resorts, or were they bought over? Sasikala’s speculated march to the CM’s seat landed her in Tihar Jail, and yet she is remote controlling the state politics as per her whims. The drama has just started unfolding, just wait and watch the political twists and turns, it takes.

“Politics bereft of religion, are absolute dirt, ever to be shunned”, said Bapu. Today it is absolute filth!

Back home our city is in the grip of Municipal elections. As usual, till the elections are over, Mumbaikars are the kings. Candidates themselves, and their chamchas visit house to house canvassing and offering big incentives. Once the election is over, we do not see their faces again. Dirty party politics plays an important role in elections, tickets given not on merits, but sold to the highest bidder, or given to the kins of politicians. What merits do the parties have?

Mr. Raghunath D. Thawai, our ex-corporator from 2007 to 2012 from ward no. 178 has the unique distinction of being available at all times, always smiling, always ready to serve the citizens in his own inimitable way. He was a loyal worker of the Congress for more than 30 years, and in spite of giving best services and a proven excellent track record, was denied a Congress ticket. Though greatly disappointed, but not dejected, he stands as an independent candidate. Without any strings tied to a party, he will work fearlessly and with more vigour, in ward no. 178, serving the residents of the Dadar Parsi Colony, Hindu Colony and Wadala-West. Mr. Thawai has worked hard and offered his service/ attention to one and all and we expect you to give many more years of service!

Great Going, PT! Dear Editor, Parsi Times is indeed reaching new heights and is becoming the weekly for the thinking Parsi. The drastic improvement in your content and structure, as well as the thought provoking editorials, is gaining increasing popularity, leaving far behind the other weekly, which has been on an ethically-deteriorating, community-divisive and negative…
