Convocation Ceremony at Gamadia Girls’ High School

On 24th March, 2017, the Bai M N Gamadia Girls’ High School held a delightful convocation ceremony for its Pre-Primary and Primary sections. The excitement of the young tots was palpable and infectious, as they readied themselves in the morning to participate in numerous enchanting programs, competitions and awards, organised ably by the dynamic principal of the school, Zarin Rabadi, with the support of her vibrant staff. The event was attended by Minoo Billimoria, the President of the School’s Trust and Trustee and Treasurer, Kersi Commissariat. Editor of Parsi Times, Anahita Subedar presided as Chief Guest and judge.

The event kicked off with an endearing Fancy Dress Competition by the Nursery students, who brilliantly displayed their talents as Community Helpers – the theme of the competition – under multiple guises including doctor, grocer, soldier, pilot, gardener, barber, fire-fighter, cobbler, etc. The winners were Avni Gosia, Zehra Shaikh and Aaradhya Shirvartkar. This was followed by an energetic ‘Aerobics’ session, performed by the students of Lower and Higher KG; and an expressive rendition of the famous Hindi children’s song, ‘Nana teri morni ko mor le gaye’ by the Pre-Primary students. The ‘Intelligent Pageant’ with the Primary sections students left everyone impressed with the display of fashion and confidence, and was won by ‘Primary Pick’, Radhika Jhawar.

Kersi Commissariat spoke a few words of appreciation, motivating students and teachers for the wonderful show and their untiring efforts and services. Finally it was time for the Pre-Primary and Primary Convocation ceremony, as the proud young girls, dazzling in their graduation garb, received certificates from Chief Guest Anahita Subedar.

The Bai M. N. Gamadia Girls’ High School has a student strength of six hundred and forty-three keen learners, of which nine are currently Parsis. Parsi students are provided free lunch from RTI. The school boasts of posting 100% results in the Class X Boards, with all the girls passing in the first class, the majority of which pass with distinction (above 75%) and over 17 students score above 90%.

Says Principal Zarin Rabadi, “My vision for the school comprises ensuring that all parents, around a one km radius of the school, choose Gamadia Girls’ High School as their first choice to enrol their daughters. Our school provides the best of both worlds – academics and co-curricular activities – comprehensively, to ensure that we provide our girls holistic education and hone them into self-assured, independent and confident young women.”
