FEZANA Celebrates 30 Years!
The Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America (FEZANA) commemorated 30 glorious years, on 29th April, 2017, in the presence of all eight Presidents, at Houston. Hosted by the Zoroastrian Association of Houston at its center, along with their Congress Legacy 10th Anniversary Awards Function, the celebrations witnessed 90-year-old Er. Dr. Jehan Bagli, from Toronto, Canada, and Sarosh Contractor of Houston, receiving the ‘Life Time Achievement’ award for their exemplary services to the Zoroastrian community. Making the most of the occasion, FEZANA organised their Annual General Meeting with various slide presentations, while various other associations discussed their local issues, budgets and future plans, over three days.
With the American Youth Conference to be organised in 2019, in California, FEZANA has been encouraging them to visit Perth to promote their meet during the World Zoroastrian Congress. FEZANA President, Homi Gandhi, chaired the meet, while three past presidents of FEZANA spoke of their experiences, followed by the unveiling of a new logo, to commemorate their ‘30th Anniversary’. The winning logo, designed by graphic artist, Zara Contractor, which features all four revered Zoroastrian elements like air, earth, water and fire, was selected through an exhaustive independent evaluation of over hundred entries submitted by Zoroastrians across the world. The logo competition was managed by FEZANA, Vice-President, Arzan Wadia and judged by leading Zoroastrian marketing, design and public relations industry professionals, including Mantreh Atashband (New Jersey); Jim Engineer (Chicago); Feroza Fitch (Washington, D.C.); Mrinalini Nair (New York City), and Zen Yinger (North Carolina). The 30th Anniversary Issue of the FEZANA Journal was also inaugurated by Dr. Bagli.
“On behalf of FEZANA’s executive team, our member associations and corresponding groups, I want to personally thank each designer who took the time to think through our need, develop innovative design concepts and put their artistic skills to the test. We salute Zara Contractor for her winning design, and believe it best represents FEZANA’s mission, vision and religious identity,” said Wadia. Moreover, the Global working Group has selected New York for the World Zoroastrian Congress to be held in 2020.
