Mumbai Felicitates Vada Dasturji Khurshed For NCM Appointment

The felicitation function of Vada Dasturji Khurshed Kaikobad Dastoor, on his prestigious appointment as member to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) representing Parsi Zoroastrians, hosted by the Mancherji Edalji Joshi Memorial Trust (MEJMT) Dadar, Mumbai, on 2nd July, 2017, witnessed an overwhelming turnout! Nearly forty trusts and associations across Mumbai, including Colaba, Byculla, Lalbaug, Bandra, Andheri, Thane and many more, extended their salutations with garlands, bouquets and gifts.

Held at the Palamkote Hall, Er. Kaizad Karkaria of the Rustom Faramna Agiary, Dadar, commenced the proceedings with a Humbandagi, followed by MEJMT Chairman, Dinyar Panthaki, delivering the inaugural address, congratulating Vada Dasturji Khurshed and felicitating him. Trustee, Zarine Engineer presented Vada Dasturji with a gift on behalf of the Trust, while Trustee, Tina Patel presented his wife, Havovi Dastoor with flowers. MEJMT Hon. Sec, Mithoo Jesia spoke about her association with Vada Dasturji Khurshed, sharing anecdotes of occasions when he was closely associated with the Trust.

Er. Dr. Ramiyar Karanjia, Principal of the Dadar Athornan Institute, reminisced his schooling days with Vada Dasturji as classmate at the Dadar Parsee Youths Assembly High School and at the Dadar Athornan Madressa, along with Er. Rustomji Panthaky, the then Principal of the Madressa. Vada Dasturji was highly appreciated for his present tenure on the Athornan Mandal, his direct interaction with the children at the Madressa and for taking a keen interest in their welfare.

Nearly forty associations felicitated Vada Dasturji Khurshed, after which delivered an inspiring address to the gathering, explaining what the National Minorities Commission was all about and his duties in the Commission – which included the 15 points program of the Commission that looks after the interests of India’s five minorities – Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and Jains. MEJMT Trustee, Mahiyar Dastoor compered the entire event, while Trustee, Zarine Engineer gave the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of other Trustees, Jimi Jesia, Daraius Zaiwala, Behram Rabadi and Homai Daruwalla, in organising this program, which concluded with the recitation of Chaiye Hame Zarthosti and the National Anthem.
