Don’t Miss ‘IISTOO’ By Nozzer Pardiwala
Mostly when Parsi cuisine is talked about, it’s the Patra-ni-macchi or the Dhansak that is known. ‘IISTOO’ remains the lesser known but frequently eaten delicacy. So are our emotions frequently felt but less visited and lesser spoken about. ‘IISTOO’ is the short film of a functional family whose unique members, like the ingredients of the IISTOO, blend into each other, in spite of their different tastes.
Produced by The Non-Conforming Parsi Filmz, a Parsi Production company, ‘IISTOO’ revolves around the story of a grandson and grandfather, who represent the young and old generation of the Parsi community, and how they come midway to communicate and embrace the changing times and challenges being faced by the community today. The core of the story is the effortless portrayal of these sublime human emotions.
“‘IISTOO’ is born out of all those unanswered questions I never had the courage to ask all through my childhood. After these many years, I finally feel I have a voice,” says film maker Nozzer Pardiwala.
Describing himself as Teacher by profession, Author by choice, Film Maker by birth, the Creative Director of bLOGiMLY, Nozzer, chose real life individuals for his cast, as opposed to professional actors, saying, “since real stories need real people, IISTOO has non-actors!” The team includes Sonnal Pardiwala, Aspi Patel; Shahaan Pardiwala; Kainaaz Phillips; Pratik Suratwala; Dhun Patel; Shahen Pardiwala; Nozzer Pardiwala; Rekha Mistry and Rahul Arora.
