CRICKET- World Cup 2019

                

India Continue Dominance – Vanquish Windies!: Team India continued their impressive winning streak, clinching yet another win beating West Indies by a massive margin of 125 runs – thanks to gritty batting efforts from ‘Man of the Match’ and Indian skipper – Virat Kohli (72) along with a 56* from MS Dhoni. India made 268-7 batting first. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya scored 48 and 46 respectively. West Indies collapsed at 143 in 34.2 overs unable to withstand India’s brilliant bowling attack. Shami picked 4-16.

 

Pakistan Stuns NZ: Pakistan beat New Zealand by six wickets, courtesy an unbeaten 101 from Man of the Match – Babar Azam and Afridi’s (3-28). Batting first, New Zealand scored 237-6 in 50 overs as James Neesham remained 97 not out, smashing five fours and three maximums while Colin de Grandhomme made 64. Pakistan finished with 241-4 in 49.1 overs. NZ’s Trent Bolt, Lockie Ferguson and Kane Williamson picked one wicket each.

 

Australia In Semi Finals: Host England was in a spot as Australia outplayed its rivals to win the match by 64 runs, as skipper and Man of the Match, Aaron Finch scored a ton, laced with 11 fours and 2 sixes. Aussies thus become the first qualifying team for the Semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Australia made 285-7 in 50 overs, batting first. England’s Chris Woakes took 2-46. In reply, England were unable to cross the winning line, succumbing at 221 in 44.4 overs.

 

SNOOKER

Pankaj Advani Wins Asian Snooker Championship: India’s Pankaj Advani won the 35th Men’s Asian Snooker Championship completing a career grand slam in cue sports. With this win, Advani grabbed the ACBS Asian Snooker events-6 red in the short format and 15 red in the long format along with the IBSF World Championships in both formats. The star cueist beat Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon 6-3 to become the only one to win the Asian and World championships in all formats.

Roger Federer Grabs 10th Halle Open: Star Swiss tennis player Roger Federer set another benchmark in his outstanding career, snapping up his 10th Halle Open title, defeating David Goffin 7-6 (2), 6-1, to continue his domination at the grass-court tournament.
