The Heat Is On!

Dear Readers,

As Maximum City gets back to having us live through maximum temperatures – Summer seems to be well and truly settling in, much to the discomfort and despair of many who have been dreading the travel and sweat and grime, usually associated with its experiences.

In keeping with the ongoing global warming and climate change, the weather gurus have warned us to expect one of the hottest summers this year. While many of us usually prepare for the summers by ensuring easy accessibility to all things edible and non-edible to keep ourselves cool physically, let’s not forget to include habits that will also help keep our minds cool. A good habit to inculcate is learning to pause for a couple of seconds before reacting to unpleasant circumstances – which helps quell anger and flaring tempers, known to record a surge in spats, accidents and road rage, especially during the summer season. And of course, a strong recommendation is consuming coconut water, which not only quenches thirst but also rehydrates the body, especially during heat-waves!

As we take care of ourselves, let’s not forget our winged and four-legged friends on the streets who have to bear the sizzling wrath of the Sun. Let’s keep bowls of water and grains/food on our balconies for the birds, and a few buckets of water at select street corners (after due permission) that we know are chanced upon by stray cats, dogs, et al. These helpless souls undergo the worst possible misery and many times, lose the battle due to dehydration and sunburn.

It is important also to remember that as much as we dread the summers, each season brings along its own set of benefits alongside difficulties and inconveniences. It would be wise for us to accept these, because honestly, what other choice do we really have? Even so, let us never forget that the universe is an extremely logical phenomenon and Mother Nature is known always to balance out all things… and thus, every season is indispensable for the very survival of all species.

Have a cool and lovely weekend!
